SCARC is an organization serving people with developmental disabilities and, over the past 2+ years,
the Pope John football team has been blessed to establish a mutually-beneficial relationship with them.

The folks at SCARC - and some family members - have expressed their gratitude but, this is truly an excellent
opportunity for our young players to see how blessed they are while, at the same time, to do some good for a
very worthy cause.

For two years, we have brought 15 players on a Sunday afternoon in May to help with SCARC’s major fundraiser –
a two-mile walkathon around the Sussex County fairgrounds.  Our players push people who are wheelchair-bound, interact with the people while enjoying a picnic lunch, and then help clean up and take down the many tables
and chairs.

The team has hosted several SCARC people at football practices and we have hosted them at a football game
for each of the last two years.  The SCARC people get their own reserved parking spot, free admission,
and reserved seating – and they have walked away proudly with Pope John jerseys and hats.

At our recent game against Morris Hills, Victor, Ronnie, and Danny greeted the team as it came onto the
field at halftime and, then, had a picture taken with the team after the game.

In Matthew 25:40, Jesus says, “‘I assure you that when you have done it for one of the least of these brothers
and sisters of mine, you have done it for me.”  While these people are certainly not “least” in terms of the dignity
and respect due them, they are nonetheless afflicted with significant physical challenges – and it is humbling
for all of us to be able to help.
